‘These are automatically generated extreme doodles or extensions of my thought processes. Mostly linear, nearly always black ink and gesso, they are interwoven strands of subconscious which will always try to escape the frame, in this case the edge of the paper, but always struggling to get there. Each subsequent drawing joins to the next usually by single strands, occasionally multiple, and this determines the beginning of another day…and another drawing, and in that way the process of the drawing never has to finished. I use black because it doesn’t complicate, it simplifies and amplifies the drawing and the process.’
